COVID-19 Impact on Breeding
MAY 2020-
As many families and our nation become impacted by the spread of the coronavirus, we have had to make some difficult decisions for our kennel. Because our kennel is a part of our home, we must take measures to help protect our family and household as well as yours. We are committed to being a responsible breeder and want do our part to help to prevent the spread of the virus. We have made the difficult decision to delay our next breeding until the Fall of 2020 - or at least until the current epidemic seems more manageable.
We have also suspended all visits to our kennel for the foreseeable future. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused and wish everyone good health and happiness in the weeks and months to come!

We have postponed this cross until the WINTER of 2020 or Spring 2021. This is a much anticipated cross between Sampson and Ambush. We are VERY excited about this cross! We are planning an outcross with Sara in the Spring 2021. We are currently studying pedigrees and deciding on a pairing from outside our kennel. This will more than likely be Sara's last litter. This will be a special cross whomever we decide on as Sara passes on many desirable traits!

We are currently seeking the right home and co-owner for two young adult males. They would be required to stay intact in order to remain a part of our breeding program. They are both show quality males with great personalities and are very willing to learn. We do not like to keep many males at our kennel and know they would love to be in a forever pet or show home.

We take the responsibility of breeding very seriously at Shavano Creek. Any terrier entering our program has been carefully selected for natural working ability, correct conformation, temperament, and DNA health. We gravitate towards an elegant and athletic terrier who is naturally flexible, correct and compact, focused and energetic, yet pleasant to live with. Shavano Creek Jack Russells can be found in show and pet homes throughout North America.
At Shavano Creek, the health of every terrier is very important to us. Each of our terriers is current and up to date on all required vaccinations and are regularly seen by our local vet for wellness checks. All canine parents have been BAER (hearing) & CERF (eyes) tested normal. They have also been DNA tested normal for PLL, SCA, LOA, and DM to ensure healthy parents and offspring. Our entire crew is clear of all genetic testing at this time.
WHAT TO EXPECT :
Our puppies will come home with a four generation pedigree, stud certificate and health record. Pups will have had their first vaccinations, will have a microchip, and will have been started on heartworm prevention. Puppies are trained to use a litter box and/or paper/pad, will be started in a crate, and may have even taken a ride in the car. We socialize our pups from birth and work with many sensory methods to ensure a well rounded puppy. Our goal is to make the transition from our home to yours as stress free as possible!
RESERVATION POLICY:
Shavano Creek puppies are often sold by reservation before they are born and we frequently have a waiting list. If you would like to reserve a place on our waiting list please contact us for an application. To reserve a place on our deposit reservation list, we require a $300.00 non-refundable deposit that is applied towards the price of the pup which ranges from $1,500 to $2,000. Most puppies go home with a spay/neuter contract. Please contact us for more specifics. Puppies are old enough to go to their forever homes at 8-14 weeks of age depending on the puppy and litter. Please note, we do not ship puppies, but will be happy to meet you at either our local airport or an airport near you. Travel expenses are your responsibility with either option.
Terriers are sold to approved homes only. Our primary objective is to place each terrier in a well matched home. The terrier that has your preferred coloring may not have the perfect temperament for your home. We work hard to suggest terriers that will compliment their new family and living situation as best possible. This means we select for temperament first with color and coat only as a secondary consideration. We also screen potential buyers for a thorough understanding of this breed’s working characteristics, intellectual needs, tolerance of children, and boundless exercise requirements. A suitably fenced yard is a must! Please keep in mind that Shavano Creek JRT always has the right of first refusal on every puppy, and that may be the pup you have your eye on! We know it is difficult, but please try not to fall in love until our own selection process is complete. As we believe this will be a lifelong commitment for everyone involved, we work very hard with each pup and family to ensure each terrier is placed in the best home possible for your family and puppy!
PLACING A DEPOSIT
We would love for you to have a puppy from our kennel. We would also like for you to take the time to research Jack Russell Terriers to ensure that not only is this the right breed for you, but that we are also the right breeder as well. If you are not sure that you want a terrier at this time or you have any reservations at all - please do not place a deposit. Please wait until the time is right for you and your family.
