Our focus for 2026-2027 will be to continue to produce puppies from our seasoned breeding stock with our main focus on Leonardos' sons Sampson and Oliver as well as the last litters for our older girls. As several terriers are nearing retirement age from our breeding program, our desire is to enhance our program with a young pup or two from our Legacy terriers.

After putting our breeding plan on pause and weaving in Brooks Chase Jude's amazing pedigree in 2024, we will have returned to our original program for 2026-2027. We will retire some of our terriers and place them in family homes this year as well. Keep watching our page as 2026 will be an exciting year!

*Litters may not be offered in order listed. Listings will be updated as we learn expected due dates. Estimated dates for litters are Winter 2025 / Spring 2026 / Fall of 2026. Stud dogs are subject to change as we fine tune our plans. Please note that this is a 2 year plan and does not reflect any particular order. Litters will be announced once a CONFIRMED pregancy is established.

Available Adults & Older Puppies

Because we give our terriers a lot of individual attention, we must limit the number of terriers on the premises at any given time. Occasionally, we keep a pup or two as a way for us to evaluate our breeding choices, and have older pups available for placement with select homes. These terriers have been imprinted from birth, socialized, travelled, leash trained, and have experience many adventures. Adult terriers occasionally become available so that we may keep an up and coming terrier. Some of these adults may be suitable for breeding or showing or for the best life as a cherished pet.

At Shavano Creek, the health of every terrier is very important to us. Each of our terriers is current and up to date on all required vaccinations and are regularly seen by our local vet for wellness checks. All canine parents have been BAER (hearing) & CERF (eyes) tested normal. They have also been DNA tested normal for PLL, SCA, LOA, and DM to ensure healthy parents and offspring. Our entire crew is clear of all genetic testing at this time.

WHAT TO EXPECT :

Our puppies will come home with a four generation pedigree, stud certificate and health record. Pups will have had their first vaccinations, will have a microchip, and will have been started on heartworm prevention. Puppies are trained to use a litter box and/or paper/pad, will be started in a crate, and may have even taken a ride in the car. We socialize our pups from birth and work with many sensory methods to ensure a well rounded puppy. Our goal is to make the transition from our home to yours as stress free as possible!

RESERVATION POLICY:

Shavano Creek puppies are often sold by reservation before they are born and we frequently have a waiting list. If you would like to reserve a place on our waiting list please contact us for an application. Upon approval, you may place a DEPOSIT of $500 to be placed on the deposit reservation list The deposit is applied towards the total price of the pup. Our deposit list closes after 2 families per litter. If we have additional puppies available, we will contact our waitlist families in the order they were received. Puppies go home for $2000-$3000 depending on the litter, terrier and/or breeding terms. Breeding and show quality terriers will be at the upper end. Please contact us for details. Shavano Creek does not breed for profit. We breed to produce top quality, health tested, performance minded puppies with excellent temperaments so that we may retain a pup or two for our kennel. We research pedigrees and genetics extensively in order to produce excellent quality terriers and to advance the breed. Families may also benefit from our dedicated efforts by retaining an exceptional pup from these same litters. We devote countless hours of our time, energy, and resources into research, testing and development of top quality Jack Russell Terriers. Please do not ask us to discount our hard work.

Puppies are evaluated at 8 -12 weeks and are matched to reservations based on gender, temperament/suitability to buyer’s environment and finally any preferences. We do not take reservations for a specific coat, color or height as we do not know what might be available. We guarantee good tempered, well socialized, healthy puppy of the preferred gender. Puppies are old enough to go to their forever homes at 9-14 weeks of age depending on the puppy and litter. Please note - Puppies are not available to families until we have completed our own evaluation and selection process at about 8-10 weeks. We do not ship puppies, but can arrange a puppy nanny or a member of our family to meet you at our local airport or an airport near you. Travel expenses are your responsibility with either option.

Terriers are sold to approved homes only. Our primary objective is to place each terrier in a well matched home. The terrier that has your preferred coloring may not have the perfect temperament for your home. We work diligently to suggest terriers that will compliment their new family and living situation as best possible. This means we select for temperament first with color and coat only as a secondary consideration. We also screen potential buyers for a thorough understanding of this breed’s working characteristics, intellectual needs, tolerance of children, and boundless exercise requirements. A suitably fenced yard is a must! Electric fences are not acceptable. Please keep in mind that Shavano Creek JRT always has the right of first refusal on every puppy, and that may be the pup you have your eye on! We know it is difficult, but please try not to fall in love until our own selection process is complete. As we believe this will be a lifelong commitment for everyone involved, we work very hard with each pup and family to ensure each terrier is placed in the best home possible for your family and puppy!

Puppies are sold with a spay/neuter contract unless other arrangements have been made. If you are interested in a terrier for breeding or show purposes, it is important to match you with the best terrier possible with the applicable health clearances. BEFORE PLACING A DEPOSIT

We would love for you to have a puppy from our kennel. We would also like you to take the time to research Jack Russell Terriers to ensure that not only is this the right breed for you, but that we are also the right breeder as well. A good place to start your research is the JRTCA website. Here is a link to the JRTCA PROFILER to help provide recommendations on how compatible a Jack Russell Terrier might be for your household. This website provides a wealth of information on the Jack Russell Terrier. If you are not sure that you want a terrier at this time or you have any reservations at all - please do not place a deposit. Please wait until the time is right for you and your family.

Your deposit is non-refundable. If you put down a deposit and then change your mind, your deposit is not refundable. We may also move your deposit to a later litter as long as you stay in touch. Staying in touch means sending us a note or call every six months or so to keep us updated. After a year of no contact, your deposit will be forfeited.

Although we make every effort to match the right puppy with the right home, we understand that sometimes life events that are beyond one’s control can interfere with even the most perfect of matches. Consequently, we will take back our terriers at any time during their life.
